Custom Name for device

When a Windows device in enrolled, it has the name that it is called in Windows which is the label it is known by.
The label (Custom Name) can be changed.
BUT... Under the custom name is a tick box which has to be unticked if the custom name is to be retained.
This makes no sense.
By default, the custom name is the real name, so the tick box should be unticked by default so if a custom name is applied it is retained by default.
In the rare occasion that someone would add a custom name and want it to disappear at some random point, they could tick the box, but I see no reason for this even to exist.
If the programmers can present no good reason for the system to work as it does now, could they please set that tick box to unticked by default so that any custom name added is retained and doesn't disappear because you forget to untick the tick box.
